Leaps Talk #7: Measuring what matters in impact investing
Featuring Agate Freimane and Meik Wiking, moderated by Britt Wray. Held online in partnership with Tech Open Air in 2020
While wealth may be on the rise - so are sea levels, air pollution, cancer rates, and mental health disorders. Despite continued economic growth, it seems we sometimes fail to convert our wealth into wellbeing. So where should we invest our resources to improve quality of life? If we could choose between breakthrough innovations that could fundamentally change the world for the better, which one should we choose - and how do we ensure better metrics for better investments?
As the field of impact investment grows and more investors see fighting climate change, eradicating diseases, and other huge challenges as business priorities rather than charitable endeavors, defining clear means to measure impact has never been more important. In this talk, we explore distinct ways to quantify impact, such as building on the SDGs to consider how nuanced approaches that consider wellbeing could drive better outcomes for people and the planet.
